Why We Sell Plugs
Plugs are young native plants with strong root systems that transition easily into your soil and begin growing right away.
Establish Faster
Healthy roots settle in quickly and often outperform larger container plants after the first season.
Less Soil Disturbance
Smaller plants require smaller planting holes, making them easier to plant and causing less disruption to your garden soil.
Plant More
Because plugs cost less than large pots, you can plant more — creating richer plantings that better support pollinators and wildlife.
At the Market This Week
Beginning May 9, a rotating selection of native plants we’ll bring to market each week—chosen for beauty, resilience, and the life they support. These are the first selections of garden kits and plants for the season.
Why Native Plants Matter
Native plants evolved here — with our insects, our birds, our soil, our seasons. They’re not just beautiful; they’re essential to the health and balance of our local ecosystem.

About Our Plants
Why do you sell plugs instead of larger pots?
We sell native plants as plugs—young plants with healthy root systems—because they’re easier to plant, and adapt quickly to your soil, often outperforming larger plants.
Starting with plugs also allows us to offer more species at an accessible price, making it easier to plant generously and create thriving pollinator habitat.
Are native plants difficult to grow?
Not at all. They want to be here — they evolved in this region and are adapted to it. They don't need fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. They need to be watered the first season but usually not after that. They can withstand cold winters, hot summers, and droughts.
Planting & Gardening
When is the best time to plant native plants?
Spring and fall are the best times to plant, when temperatures are cooler and rainfall is more reliable. These conditions help plants establish strong roots before the heat of summer.
Will deer eat these plants?
We garden in an area with heavy deer pressure, so we’ve selected plants known for their deer resistance. While no plant is completely deer-proof, these species are generally less appealing to deer.
